If you want to be known as one who lives the word, and doesn't just let it go in one ear and out the other, look into the mirror and let it show you who you are and who you can be.--A positive interpretation of James 1:22-24

The glow
When I was a teenager, I was part of a congregation that regularly practiced giving testimonies. In the worship services, there was frequently a time for the members to stand and share what God was doing in their lives. Listening to those people share was like basking in the glow of the Holy Spirit’s fire. It’s been a while since I experienced that, but I was able to the other evening. I was on the phone with the mother of one of the middle school students in our youth group. She shared that her daughter had told her the other day that she was feeling strange. When her mom asked what she meant, she told her that she’d been praying and that suddenly, like a switch had been flipped, she felt Jesus in the room with her and that sense of the imminent presence of Christ stayed with her. Praise God who gives us the Holy spirit to bear witness with our spirit that we are children of God! Amen
